PAGASA: Rain over parts of PHL, big waves in Luzon, Visayas
Rain looms over parts of the country in the next 24 hours, even as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warned fishermen and small seacraft in Luzon and Visayas Friday against big waves.
PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said the diffused tail-end of a cold front is still affecting Visayas and Northern Mindanao.
"Patuloy pa rin makakaapekto sa ating bansa ang diffused tail-end of a cold front. Ito ay magdudulot ng kalat na pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog sa Visayas at Mindanao," Quitlong said in an interview on dzBB radio.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Southern Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The eastern sections of Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with rains. The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, it added.
On the other hand, it will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the rest of the country, PAGASA said.
"Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east and northeast with slight to moderate seas," it said.
On the other hand, Quitlong warned fishermen and small seacraft against big waves in the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas.
He said the waves may measure three to five meters, adding this is due to the northeast monsoon.
"May kalakasan ang pag-alon ng karagatan sa Luzon at Visayas. Ito ay mapanganib sa mas maliit na sasakyang pandagat," he said. –KG, GMA News
