Saudi Arabia’s health sector may soon be opening doors to more Filipino health workers, the Philippine Embassy to Riyadh said on Tuesday.   In a news release, the embassy said Saudi Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah revealed this in a meeting with Ambassador Ezzedin Tago during a meeting on January 18.   “The Saudi Minister of Health (MOH) praised Filipino medical professionals and said that their experience with them has been excellent because of their performance,” the embassy said.   Tago was with Second Secretary and Consul Roussel Reyes and Labor Attaché Albert Valenciano during the meeting.   The Philippine officials discussed with Al Rabeeah the status of the proposed MOH-DOLE (Philippine Department of Labor and Employment) training program for nurses.   “They also discussed possible increased cooperation between the two countries in other areas of the medical profession, such as research and the academe,” the embassy said.   The statistics of the MOH show that the Saudi government employs about 117,000 Filipinos in the medical sector, most of them nurses. - VVP, GMA News
