Flash floods, landslides threaten Bicol, east Visayas
Flash floods and landslides threaten Bicol and Eastern Visayas due to the tail-end of a cold front, state weather forecasters said Thursday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the tail-end of a cold front is affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas.
"Sa ngayon ang weather system na umiiral sa bansa ay ang tail-end of a cold front," PAGASA forecaster Benjie de Paz said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said Metro Manila can also expect partly cloudy skies and rain, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 31 degrees Celsius.
PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said Eastern and Southern Luzon and Visayas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.
The Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas will be cloudy and have widespread rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides.
"The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," PAGASA said.
Coastal waters along Luzon and Eastern Visayas will be moderate to rough as moderate to strong winds blow in from the northeast.
Elsewhere, seas will be slight to moderate due to light to moderate winds from the northeast.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds from the northeast monsoon may affect the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon.
"Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. –KG, GMA News
