PHL execs assist Pinoy victims in Brunei fire

Philippine officials in Brunei assisted at least six Filipino families displaced by a fire in Kampong Kianggeh last month.   In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said the fire destroyed a 10-unit housing complex In Kampong Kianggeh last January 10, affecting around 16 Filipinos who lost their belongings.   "There were no Filipino fatalities during the accident, though a Myanmar national sustained severe burn injuries and was immediately hospitalized after the incident," the DFA said.    Philippine officials, led by Ambassador to Brunei Nestor Ochoa, Minister and Consul General Raymond Balatbat, and Labor Attache Ana Dione, gave the victims “shopping bags filled with basic good and necessities donated by Embassy personnel.”   They also handed the victims cash donations from members of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accounts-Brunei (PICPA-Brunei).   The DFA said the affected Filipino families “have relocated to a shelter provided by their employers.” - RJMD, GMA News
