PAGASA: Northeast monsoon to bring light rain during weekend

February 4, 2012 7:49am
Filipinos can expect light rain during the weekend due to the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Saturday.

PAGASA forecaster Meno Mendoza said they do not expect any cyclone or other major weather disturbance on Saturday and Sunday.

"Hindi naman magkakaroon ng malakas na pag-ulan. Magiging maulap tayo hanggang bukas at susunod na araw," Mendoza said in an interview on dzBB radio.

In Metro Manila, he said the weather may be cloudy with light rain, adding the temperature will range from 22 to 31 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the northeast monsoon is affecting the entire archipelago.

"The entire archipelago will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered light rains and isolated thunderstorms," it said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon, Visayas and Eastern Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA warned fishermen strong to gale-force winds may affect the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao.

"Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. — LBG, GMA News
