February 6, 2012 11:20am
The tail-end of a cold front may bring flash floods and landslides to at least six areas in Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday.

On its 10:30 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the tail-end of the cold front will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Visayas and Northern Mindanao.

PAGASA said the rain may become widespread over six areas and cause flash floods and landslides:
  • Samar provinces
  • Leyte provinces
  • Bohol
  • Siquijor
  • Surigao provinces
  • Agusan provinces

Earlier, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon while the tail-end of a cold front is affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

It said Luzon will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rain.

Visayas and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rain over Visayas, and the Northern and Western sections of Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, it added.
