At least 54 overseas Filipino workers who availed of the government's repatriation efforts are to fly home from Lebanon before noon Tuesday.

The 54 are to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport aboard an Emirates flight (GF-154) at 10:10 a.m., radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration information officer Rey Tayag said an OWWA team is to meet the OFWs.

Members of the OWWA team will also interview the returning OFWs on their ordeal while abroad, the report said.

But Tayag said the OWWA will also quiz those who went without the proper documents on how they got there.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said a deployment ban had been in effect on Lebanon since 2006.

Aside from Lebanon, deployment bans are also in effect over Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan and Nigeria.

However, Philippine and Lebanon labor officials signed last week two landmark agreements that may lead to the lifting of the ban. — RSJ, GMA News
