Aquino appoints Cebu RTC Judge Yap as CA associate justice
Cebu Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Marilyn B. Lagura-Yap was appointed as Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals (CA) by President Aquino.
Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda also announced the appointment of Judge Jacob M. Montesa II to the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 80 in Muntinlupa, and Judge Jean Susan Desuasido Gill to the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 79 in Las Piñas.
"We are confident that they will stand with the banner of integrity and professionalism in the judiciary, and contribute to the reforms that we are laying out in every branch of government," Lacierda said.
According to Lacierda, Lagura-Yap, a government veteran of almost 27 years, graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Cebu and earned her law degree from the University of San Carlos.
Meanwhile, a Palace statement said that Montesa has worked for the Public Attorney’s Office and as prosecutor for Las Piñas City.
Gill worked as branch Clerk of Court to the Muntinlupa RTC. She took up her Master of Laws at the London School of Economics and Political Science, according to the statement. — AL/VS, GMA News
