PNP to impose gun ban in Baguio for Panagbenga Festival
The National Police will start enforcing a gun ban in Baguio City starting Friday to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration of the Panagbenga Festival in the city. The ban will last until March 4.
In a statement, the PNP said Director General Nicanor Bartolome approved the request of Police Regional Office-Cordillera regional director, Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong for the suspension of permits to carry firearms outside residences (PTCFOR) for the duration of the Panagbenga Festival.
Under the gun ban, only members of the police, military and other law enforcement agencies who are on official duty will be allowed to carry firearms in the city.
"This is to ensure the peaceful and orderly celebration of the Panagbenga Festival and to make it free from any firearm-related incident," the PNP statement said.
