PNoy appoints Chiz's mother to UP Board of Regents
President Benigno Aquino III has appointed the mother of Senator Francis 'Chiz' Escudero as a member of the University of the Philippines Board of Regents.
Based on her appointment letter dated February 6, Evelina Buencamino Guevara-Escudero will be serving until Feb. 18, 2014. She will be replacing Magdaleno Albarracin Jr.
Guevara-Escudero, prior to her appointment, is the president of the UP Alumni Association Hostel and Canteen Services, Inc. since 2008. She is also a professor at the OB Montessori College from 1996 to present.
She is also an accredited assessor of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority on restaurant services from 2004 to present.
She coached student winners in the TESDA National Skills Olympics, the Chef’s on Parade and the Culinary Grand Prix competitions for restaurant services. She was also a coach/expert for the Philippine Youth delegate in the 6th Skills Competition held in Brunei on September 7-9, 2006.
She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Education degree at the University of the Philippines where she also finished her Masters of Arts in Educational Administration degree and her undergraduate studies.
Guevara-Escudero is married to former Agriculture Secretary and incumbent Sorsogon Rep. Salvador Escudero III. They have three children, including the senator.

Also at a press briefing Thursday, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda also announced the appointment of four judges.
Aquino appointed Judge Marlo B. Campanilla as presiding judge of the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 83 in Caloocan City. Prior to his appointment, Campanilla served as the 4th Manila Assistant City Prosecutor since 2002.
Judge Dennis J. Rafa, on the other hand, was appointed to MTC Branch 84 in Caloocan City. A graduate of Bachelor of Laws from the Manuel Luis Quezon University (MLQU), Rafa served as Makati Prosecutor II since 2007 until his appointment to Caloocan MTC Branch 84.
Judge Michael V. Francisco was designated as the presiding judge of the MTC Branch 85 in Caloocan City. He graduated Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines and practiced law in several private law firms.
Judge Lourdes Grace Barrientos-Sasondoncillo was appointed to MTC Branch 86 Caloocan City. Prior to her appointment, she worked as Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer I in the Office of the Ombudsman.
