The toys based on characters from the hit video game "Angry Birds" may soon have to share shelf space with their counterparts from "Farmville."
Zynga, the maker of the hit Facebook game, has signed a deal with giant US toymaker Hasbro to make toys and games based on Zynga brands, tech site Mashable said.
Mashable said the first products are likely to hit the market in the fall.
This is the latest attempt to make real-life products out of social games.
Under the agreement, Hasbro can develop and distribute products in various toy and game categories for Zynga’s various properties.
Both companies can also co-brand merchandise - which could potentially lead to digital product tie-ins.
Large following, no mascot?
But Mashable also noted that while Zynga has a huge following - 227 million playing its games a month - its hits like CityVille, FarmVille and Words With Friends do not have recognizable mascots or protagonists like Angry Birds.
Still, it said those addicted to Zynga's games may want to get "a miniature FarmVille playset or stuffed Truffle Hunting Pig." — TJD, GMA News
