Senator Enrile's 88th bday wish: Stamina, 'divine light'

Stamina and "divine light." These are the only things that Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile wants for his 88th birthday on Tuesday.

 

"My wish is for God to give me the stamina and the divine light to do what is right in the remaining years of my life," said Enrile, who presides over the Senate sitting as the impeachment court.

 

Asked what his wish was for the impeachment trial, Enrile just said "gusto ko happy ka," his catch phrase during the last national elections.

 

However, he also hoped that the trial would adjourn earlier on his birthday, which also happens to be Valentine's Day.

 

"Para kayo makapag-Valentine's," he told reporters.

 

Enrile said he won't be having a grand celebration for his 88th birthday.

 

"Wala akong handa.  I [just] prayed this morning as I usually do then i'll have dinner with my family tonight so that's all," he said. - VVP, GMA News
