February 16, 2012 1:14am
NEW YORK  - US stocks opened higher Wednesday after positive new reports on manufacturing and signals from China of support for Europe amid its debt crisis.

After five minutes of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 14.53 points (0.11 percent) at 12,892.81.

The broad-based S&P 500 added 3.89 points (0.29 percent) to 1,354.39, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 13.18 (0.45 percent) to 2,945.01.

The US equity markets moved to the upside "following an upbeat US regional manufacturing report, and comments from China that it is ready to play a larger role in solving the eurozone debt crisis," Charles Schwab analyst said.
