Two suspected robbers were killed in a predawn encounter with police in the Novaliches area in Quezon City on Saturday.

Police said the two had held up a woman moments before the encounter at Sangandaan village, according to a report by radio dzBB’s Roland Bola.

An initial investigation showed the two held up one Catherine Lumiyo, who sought police assistance after the incident.

When a police team chanced on the two suspects near a local market, the suspects allegedly tried to shoot at the police, who fired back.

In Pasay City, meanwhile, police are tracking down two robbers who grabbed the bag of a fast-food service crew member near a bus terminal along Taft Avenue Extension.

The victim initially identified as Michael Angelo Patricio was walking along Taft Avenue Extension when at least two robbers accosted him, radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported.

One poked a bladed weapon at him while the other tried to take his bag. When Patricio tried to resist, he was stabbed in the chest. He was rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital for treatment. — LBG, GMA News
