Palace ‘ignoring’ impeach complaints vs PNoy for now
At least for now, Malacañang is “ignoring” at least two budding impeachment complaints against President Benigno Aquino III, saying they do not appear to have a chance of prospering.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the first complaint may not even get the endorsement of the opposition bloc in the House of Representatives.
“Yung isa sinabi ni (Rep. Edcel) Lagman hindi nila ie-endorse, this was in connection with the land that was awarded to the SM Group in Baguio, hindi pa pangulo si Pangulong Aquino, nai-award na yan," she said on government-run dzRB radio.
She said it only happened that the documentation of the supposed deal was completed when Aquino was already president.
Thus, she said there is no involvement by Aquino in the deal at the time it was opened for bidding. She noted the bidding for the land occurred way back in 1997.
As for the second complaint, she said no one appears to be keen on endorsing it. She did not elaborate.
“Siguro at this point di muna natin pagtuunan ng pansin (Perhaps for now we are not wasting our time on this),” she said. — LBG, GMA News
