PAGASA: Weather to improve in NCR; floods, landslides still threaten parts of Luzon
After days of rain, residents in Metro Manila and Mindanao can expect the weather to improve, state weather forecasters said Tuesday.
But the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said flash floods and landslides still threaten parts of Northern and Central Luzon.
"’Yung Metro Manila medyo maganda ang magiging panahon natin. Partly cloudy tayo for the next two to three days," PAGASA forecaster Connie Dadivas said in an interview on dzBB radio.
She said Northern Luzon can expect rain on Tuesday but the weather there will start improving on Wednesday.
Dadivas also said Mindanao can expect cloudy skies due to the easterlies, or winds from the east, although the weather will start improving as well.
In the meantime, PAGASA said the tail-end of a cold front is affecting Northern Luzon while the easterlies are prevailing over Mindanao.
"Northern and Central Luzon and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rain over the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies and will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added.
Moderate to strong winds from the east to southeast will blow over Luzon, and coming from the east over the rest of the country.
The coastal waters throughout the country will be moderate to rough.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds from the northeast monsoon may affect the seaboards of Luzon.
"Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. –KG, GMA News
