Three suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with police, moments after they pulled off a heist at an Internet cafe in Quezon City Monday night.

 

Quezon City police said a patrol team chanced on the robbers just as they were leaving the crime scene, radio dzBB reported early Tuesday.

 

Police Station 4 head Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr. said the incident occurred near the Internet cafe at Quirino Highway in San Bartolome village in Novaliches.

 

An initial investigation showed the suspects had just robbed patrons of the Internet cafe and were escaping when they chanced on a police patrol team that noticed the commotion.

 

When the police team accosted the suspects, the suspects allegedly fired on the policemen, who fired back

 

Recovered from the suspects were P20,000 cash, five cell phones, a laptop computer, and jewelry believed taken from the Internet cafe patrons.

 

Also recovered were a cal-.45 pistol, two cal-.38 revolvers, and an ice pick. — RSJ, GMA News
