Front Row presents 'Ako si Edsa'

FRONT ROW presents
"AKO SI EDSA"
this Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, 9:40 pm after Marcos: The Fall of a Dictator

At the height of the revolution on February 25, 1986,  a baby was born in Misamis Occidental. Her parents named her Edsa Reganion. She is now a mother of two and married to a coconut plantation worker. Not having a college degree, the couple subsists on P25 a day. On bad days, they forage for discarded bananas to stave off hunger.

If this Edsa's fate is seemingly desperate, another Edsa's life is successful. She has a regular job at a motorcycle shop and she is a community organizer in Tarlac, the hometown of the Aquinos. In North Triangle, Quezon City, we met another Edsa. Unlike the other Edsas, he chose the name for himself. His parents named him Marc, short for Marcos, a name he claims he despised. Edsa Manlapaz is a self-declared radical. As a freelance graphics artist and cartoonist, he mostly draws images that evoke themes of protest. Edsa says he is just trying to live up to his name but he remains thankful for the legacy of the revolution, being able to freely express his views and opinions.

They may have the same name, but they live completely different lives. They all belong to the so-called Edsa Generation - the younger generation born during and after the peaceful revolution.

Follow the extra-ordinary stories of the lives of those who belong to the Edsa generation and examine whether they have lived up to the hopes and dreams of the 1986 peaceful revolt.

Don't miss "Ako si Edsa," on Front Row this Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 9:40 pm after Marcos: The Fall of a Dictator on GMA News TV Channel 11.
