February 21, 2012 5:39pm
Rain will continue to fall on parts of the country in the next 24 hours due to the tail-end of a cold front and winds from the east, state weather forecasters said Tuesday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the tail-end of a cold front is affecting northern Luzon while the easterlies are prevailing over Mindanao.

"Northern Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

At the same time, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east with slight to moderate seas, it added.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds associated wiht the northeast monsoon may affect the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon.

"Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," PAGASA said in its advisory. — RSJ, GMA News
