49 dead, hundreds injured in Argentina train crash
BUENOS AIRES - At least 49 died killed and scores injured when a crowded passenger train slammed into the buffers at a railway station on Wednesday in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, officials said.
"Unfortunately, we must report that there are 49 dead in the accident," police spokesman Nestor Rodriguez told a news conference.
Many of those hurt in the rush-hour incident suffered fractures and other serious injuries and dozens of commuters were still trapped in the wreckage, Daniel Russo from the civil protection agency, told a press conference.
That accident in September also injured more 200.
