Gloria Arroyo convoy leaves VMMC for Pasay City court
Amid heavy security, a convoy bearing former President Gloria Arroyo left the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City early Thursday, in time for her arraignment at the Pasay City court.
The convoy, which included two Coaster-type mini-buses and at least four motorcycle escorts, left shortly before 8 a.m., according to reports on dzBB radio.
Members of the Metro Manila police's Regional Public Safety Battalion, Special WEapons and Tactics and PNP Highway Patrol Group helped secure the convoy, the reports added.
Security had been tight at the VMMC since early Thursday, with police conducting regular patrols at the VMMC compound.
Arroyo, now a congresswoman representing Pampanga's second legislative district, was transferred to the VMMC from the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City last Dec. 9.
She was placed under arrest last Nov. 18 after the Pasay city court issued a warrant for her arrest for electoral sabotage. — LBG, GMA News
