February 23, 2012 8:48am
Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo faced a Pasay City court on Thursday for her arraignment on poll sabotage charges.

Mrs. Arroyo arrived at the Pasay City Hall, where the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112 is located, at 8:40 a.m. on board a white coaster.

The former President, who came from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City where she is currently detained, wore an off-white, long-sleeved dress when she arrived at the area. She was also still wearing a neck brace due to her bone mineral disorder.

Upon her arrival, Mrs. Arroyo pleasantly smiled and waved to members of the media, who quickly surrounded her despite tight police security.

Three police vehicles escorted Mrs. Arroyo to the area, where she is set to be arraigned for electoral sabotage raps. The former President is being accused of ordering the rigging of the 2007 polls in favor of candidates running under the administration party.

Mrs. Arroyo, who now represents the second legislative district of Pampanga, has repeatedly denied the allegations.

Minutes before the former President’s arrival, her wife, former First Gentleman Jose Miguel and her son, An Galing Pinoy party-list Rep. Juan Miguel, were also spotted near the building.
