Gloria Arroyo back at VMMC after arraignment

February 23, 2012 9:45am
After being arraigned on charges of electoral sabotage in Pasay City, former President Gloria Arroyo was whisked back to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City Thursday morning.

The former leader arrived at the VMMC at 9:40 a.m. in a convoy that included two mini-buses, some 40 minutes after leaving the Pasay court, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

No untoward incident marred the return trip, which was made amid tight security with escorts from Special Weapons and Tactics and Highway Patrol Group teams.

Arroyo earlier pleaded not guilty to charges of electoral sabotage, on which Judge Jesus Mupas based his order for her arrest last November.

Mrs. Arroyo, now a congresswoman representing Pampanga's second district, has been under hospital arrest since Nov. 18.

She was first brought to the VMMC Dec. 9 from the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City. — LBG, GMA News
