February 24, 2012 8:18am
Two suspected robbers were shot dead in an encounter with police, moments after holding up a woman in Quezon City before dawn Friday.

Police said they were forced to fire back at the two suspects, who they said fired at them, according to a report by radio dzBB's Roland Bola.

Friday's incident occurred along Quirino Highway in Sangandaan in the city's Novaliches area.

An initial investigation showed the two had held up at gunpoint a woman who bought medicine at a drug store along Quirino Highway.

They took her cell phone and wallet with P500.

But the woman sought help from a police patrol team passing through the area. The policemen accosted the suspects, who allegedly tried to shoot it out with the cops, the report said.

One of the suspects was described as wearing blue short pants and a brown shirt. The other was described as wearing shorts and a black shirt. — LBG, GMA News
