SC spokesman: Bar exam results could be out next week

February 24, 2012 1:47pm
The highly anticipated release of the 2011 Bar Examination results will not take place this week as previously reported.

In a text message to GMA News Online, Supreme Court spokesman and court administrator Midas Marquez said the results could be announced "maybe next week."

Personnel from the Supreme Court's Public Information Office, meanwhile, said the high  court will likely come out with a press release indicating the exact date for the publication of the results.

The clarification came after Associate Justice Roberto Abad, chairman of the 2011 Bar Examinations Committe, announced last week that the results could come out within the week.

Abad at the time did not give an exact date but results are traditionally announced after a full court session, which is held every Tuesday.

Some 6,200 law graduates took the Bar examinations – believed to be the most difficult among licensure examinations – during the four Sundays of November last year at the University of Santo Tomas campus in Manila.

The venue was moved last year from the De La Salle University along Taft Avenue in Manila.

The SC earlier banned festive celebrations that were part of the traditional "bar operations," to avoid a repeat of last year's Bar Exam violence where a grenade blast injured more than 40 people.

In the 2010 Bar exams, the results of which was released in March the following year, a total of 982 out of the 4,847 examinees passed the test, with Ateneo Law graduate Cesario Antonio Singzon emerging on top with a grade of 89 percent. — LBG, GMA News
