February 25, 2012 12:54pm
A young boy turned out to be the fatality in a predawn fire that razed at least 10 houses in Manila's Tondo district Saturday.

The boy's body was found when firefighters were conducting clean-up operations after the fire was put out, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

The report said the boy's body was found in the bathroom of the house. It added the boy was a brother of two children earlier reported injured.

Saturday's predawn fire reached the third alarm before firefighters managed to put it out at 5:48 a.m. The fire destroyed 10 houses made of light materials.

Fire investigators are verifying information that some residents heard a loud explosion before the fire broke out.

Based on investigators' estimates, the fire caused some P500,000 in damage to property. — LBG, GMA News
