Senate legislative output: 1 law, 5 committee reports, 1 cybercrime bill since Jan. 16
Since the impeachment trial hearings began on January 16, the Senate managed to enact one law and approve five committee reports on national scope bills, according to the latest posts on the chamber's website. Approved on third reading was the Cybercrime Prevention bill.
Some senators and political observers have raised concerns on how the impeachment case has slowed down the legislative mill in the chamber.
When the trial proper started, the senators scheduled their legislative work—including committee hearings—in the mornings.
The lone law passed is the Kindergarten Act. Third reading approval was given to the Cybercrime Prevention bill end-January.
Two approved committee reports addressed terrorism.
A report on aquatic resources and another on trade practices advanced.
The chamber’s Committee on Justice approved its committee report on clerical errors on civil registry records.
There were several committee reports on bills creating new regional trial courts.
Passed on second reading is the bill creating the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT). Pending on second reading are 26 other bills.

Pending in conference committee are the proposed Foster Care Act (SBN – 2486) and the bill on Ethnic Discrimination (SBN 2814).
Enrolled copy prepared by the Senate are the proposed Career Executive System Act, Vagrancy Act, Early Years Act, and Subsidiary Imprisonment Act.
