PHL Weather: Sunny over Luzon, rains over Mindanao

February 25, 2012 11:17pm
While temperatures have begun to climb in parts of Luzon, rain still looms over parts of Mindanao in the next 24 hours, state weather forecasters said Saturday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the easterlies, or winds from the east, are still prevailing over Mindanao.

"Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies except for isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Bicol region and Eastern Visayas," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said sunny weather may extend up to at least Sunday, although rainy weather still looms over Mindanao.

But he said Mindanao will still be rainy because of the easterlies.

PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the east over the rest of the country.
