Lightning rally disrupts traffic near US Embassy
Traffic near the United States Embassy in Manila was disrupted Friday morning after some 20 militants held a lightning rally there.
Members of the militant group Migrante slipped past police to picket the area near the embassy along Roxas Boulevard, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.
But as the protesters were about to reach the embassy gates, police managed to regroup and confront the them.
A shoving match followed, with police personnel chasing some of the protesters.
No one was initially reported injured in the incident.
Friday's incident was the latest protest action held by militant groups in Metro Manila this week.
Other militant groups had picketed an oil company in Makati City to protest fuel price hikes, while a women's group held a lightning rally near Malacañang Thursday to protest high costs of living. — LBG, GMA News
