With a four week long program, TP will not only deliver classes for aspiring young thespians but also adults aiming to develop their skills in various aspects of theater whether it be onstage or backstage.
According to Tanghalang Pilipino Artistic Director Fernando “Nanding” Josef, “We are giving lessons on acting not just to make you good actors but also to make you good human beings so when you enrol on any of the classes, you are given exercises that improve your acting skills and also exercises that will make you realize who you are as a Filipino artist and as a Filipino human being."
With classes on Children’s Theater 1 and 2, TP teaches creative dramatics to kids using games, storytelling, movements, music and props as tools of expression. This allows enrolled students not only to channel their creativity in acting but also improve their communication skills through speech and body language. Children aged 5 to 8 may enrol in Children’s Dramatic Theater 1 while those with ages of 9 to 12 may enrol in Children’s Dramatics 2.
For young adults, TP offers a course on Musical Teen Theater (13-16 years old) which integrates creative drama, music, writing, movement and visual arts to explore themes concerning the youth. Script analysis and voice for theater are likewise incorporated in the course.
In Beginning Acting (17 years old and above),TP features a practical application of the rudiments of acting including concentration, spontaneity, improvisation, confidence, body and voice preparation, characterization and script analysis to create a unique and authentic life onstage, television and film.
For the type who avoids the glitz of the spotlight, TP also conducts courses on Production and Stage Management that is suitable for aspiring stage managers. Be the boss backstage while you test your skills and learn new ones in organizing a production.
