Malacañang has declared December 24, 2012 as a special nonworking day throughout the country.

Proclamation No. 361, signed by President Benigno Aquino III and Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. last March 29, said December 24 this year (a Monday) falls between Sunday, 23 December and Tuesday, 25 December (Christmas Day), which is a regular holiday.

It further said that the declaration of 24 December 2012 as a special nonworking day will give the people full opportunity to celebrate Christmas with their family and loved ones.

Also, it directed the Department of Labor and Employment to issue appropriate circular to implement the proclamation for the private sector. — LBG, GMA News
