NDRRMC: Two foreigners stranded off Palawan rescued
Two foreigners were rescued after finding themselves stranded off Palawan when a motor banca they were riding experienced engine trouble last Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.
Citing a belated report, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, 500 yards northeast of Malanao Island in Aborlan, Palawan.
In its 7 a.m. report, the NDRRMC identified the foreigners as:
An initial investigation showed the two foreign nationals were fishing in the area aboard the unregistered motor banca.
Boat captain Artemio Dapusala and crew member William Espina noticed an unusual noise from the engine. A check showed the engine's rocker arm was broken.
The crew sought assistance from the Coast Guard, which sent a team to rescue the passengers and bring them to Panacan Port. — LBG, GMA News
