Gobyerno, ipinagtanggol ang pag-aresto sa NDFP 'peace consultant'

Ipinagtanggol ng peace officials ng gobyerno nitong Lunes ng gabi ang pag-aresto sa umano'y peace consultant ng National Democratic Front of the Philippines noong Abril 3.

 

Sa isang pahayag sa kanilang website, inihayag ng Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process na inaresto si Reynante Gamara sa kasong kidnapping with murder.

 

"Mr. Gamara’s arrest on 3 April 2012 was a police action based on an outstanding warrant for kidnapping with murder (Criminal Cases No. 11-3248 and 11-3249) issued on 23 March 2012 by Judge Rodolfo D. Obnamia, Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 64 in Mauban, Quezon," ayon sa OPAPP.

 

Sa mga naunang ulat, inakusahan ni NDFP chief negotiator Luis Jalandoni ang gobyerno sa paglabag sa peace immunity agreeement sa pag-aresto nila kay Gamara.

 

Inaresto sa probinsya ng Rizal si Gamara, na umano'y campaigner ng party-list Bayan Muna.

 

Ayon kay Jalandoni, lumabag sa Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG) ang gobyerno sa pag-aresto kay Gamara, na consultant umano ng NDFP at gumagamit ng alyas na Siling Perez.

 

Sa kabila nito, inihayag ng OPAPP na ang JASIG ay "inoperative" dahil sa "logical consequence" sa hindi pagsunod ng NDFP sa verification mechanism.

 

"As such, there is currently no basis to verify if the alleged consultant Reynante Gamara who used the pseudonym 'Siling Perez' is supposed to be covered by an immunity guarantee," aniya. — Amanda Fernandez/RSJ, GMA News
