Pinoys in Hong Kong warned vs. 'investor racket'
Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong were warned this week against three supposed international companies involved in lending and investments. In a news release, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong said: “(This) is to inform the Filipino public that the Prosecution Department of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines has been receiving numerous inquiries from Philippine and OFW communities on the status of registration of Caceres Lending Investor Co., Global Money Unlimited and Caceres Global Foundation Inc." "Allegedly, these entities are engaged in unauthorized lending and investment-taking activities,” the consulate said. The consulate warned the public that the registration of Caceres Lending Investor Company (SEC Registration No. A1999099295) expired in 2009, and that it has no Certificate of Authority to operate a lending company. Global Company Unlimited and Caceres Global Foundation, Inc. are both not registered with the SEC, it added. The Consulate General advised Filipinos in Hong Kong to relay information about the unauthorized lending activities of the three companies by calling the Enforcement and Prosecution Department at telephone numbers: (+632) 584-6337 (Office of the Director) and (+632) 584-7652 (Complaints and Investigation Division). Complainants may also send an email to ced@sec.gov.ph. An advisory on the above-named entities can be accessed on the SEC Web site. - VVP, GMA News
