NBA: Rose gets knee injury, to miss playoffs and Olympics

The Chicago Bulls announced via Twitter that reigning MVP Derrick Rose tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), an injury to the knee, and is out for the remainder of the NBA season.
With 1:10 remaining in the fourth quarter of ended as a 101-93 win by the Bulls over the eighth seed in the East, the Philadelphia 76ers, Rose landed awkwardly and had to be carried off by trainers from both teams' staff. An MRI exam later confirmed the torn ACL. Rose had previously missed 27 games in the lockout-shortened regular season due to a variety of injuries, though his team still wound finished tied with the best overall record. ESPN Chicago's Scott Powers reported that the mood in the locker room after the game was "not befitting a victorious team." "It's like the saddest win," said sniper Kyle Korver. "He [Rose] really can't catch a break this season," added big man Carlos Boozer. Rose had put up an impressive stat line of 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in the game, giving Bulls fans hope that he had finally turned the corner on his health. Then injury struck anew. With Rose out, CJ Watson will get the start at the point guard position, with John Lucas III getting more minutes in a back-up role.
