The van believed used by Alfred Mendiola, the slain key witness in a criminal case against the leaders of the Dominguez carjacking gang, was recovered in southern Metro Manila Tuesday.
According to a dzBB report, the Grandia-type van (TBO-299) was found at the parking lot of a hotel in the Baclaran area.
Southern Police District head Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona was quoted in the report as saying that shells of a cal-.45 pistol and packaging tape were found inside the van.
Police are inspecting the van for possible additional clues that could help them reconstruct the events that led to Mendiola's death.
The bodies of Mendiola and two others were found in Cavite province Sunday. Earlier reports indicated their bodies were tied with cable and their faces wrapped in masking tape.
Mendiola had turned state witness against Raymond and Roger Dominguez, leaders of a ruthless carjacking gang linked to the killing of car dealer Venson Evangelista last year. — RSJ, GMA News
