Two-time former Shakey's V-League champions Adamson blew a two-set advantage but regrouped in the fifth to eke out a 25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 15-9 victory over La Salle-Bacolod Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan City. Adamson, after losing its first two matches, scored a much-needed win to keep its quarterfinal hopes alive. La Salle-Bacolod suffered its third loss in four games in the Season 9 first conference. Paulina Soriano scored 28 points, on 24 hits and four blocks, to pace the Lady Falcons' scoring while guest player Nene Bautista chipped in 27 markers, which includes 25 kills. "Nag relax kasi kami sa third and fourth sets, buti nakabawi pa kami sa fifth," said assistant coach Sherwin Meneses, who steered the Lady Falcons in the absence of vacationing head mentor Dulce Pante. Perpetual Help survived Southwester University's gallant stand to carve out a 25-14, 25-23, 25-22 win to clinch a quarterfinals berth. Sandra delos Santos and Thai import Pornpimol Kunbang combined for 30 hits while Honey Tubino and April Sartin tossed in nine points apiece for the Lady Altas. Perpetual improved to 2-1 to join fellow Group A teams Ateneo (4-0) and FEU (2-1), and Group B leaders San Sebastian (3-0) and UST (3-0) in the quarterfinals. — JVP, GMA News
