Philippine teams join Hong Kong Mega Ice Hockey 5's tourney
Four Filipino hockey teams are currently competing in the 2012 Mega Ice Hockey 5’s, an ice hockey tournament that is currently ongoing at MegaBox in Kowloon Bay until May 12. The teams are taking part in the Pee Wee, Bantam, Asian A, and Asian B divisions, the Philippine Consulate General said Wednesday night. “Now on its fifth year, the largest ice hockey tournament in Asia has 88 teams and more than 1,400 players from 14 countries participating,” the Consulate General said in a press release. The Manila Predators faced off against the Hong Kong Hitmen, Wednesday night, while on Thursday, two Filipino teams are featured in back-to-back matches, with the Manila Hawks battling the Hong Kong Selects at 2:30 p.m. and the Predators returning to action versus the Tokyo Egoists at 3:25 p.m. On Friday, the Hawks go up against Nakaraj at 9:15 a.m. “Whether the Hawks and Predators advance to the later rounds of the competition will be determined by their performance in the eliminations,” the Consulate General said. – AMD, GMA News
