Police: Two killed in Batangas bus accident

At least two people were killed in a bus accident along the South Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) in Batangas province Wednesday morning, police said. San Jose town police head Chief Inspector Pedro Macaraig said an undetermined number of passengers were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals after the accident. "Dito nagkaroon ng self-accident.... RORO bus na papunta Mindoro from Manila. Initially may dalawang dead on the spot at may ibang pasahero dinala sa pagamutan malapit sa area," Macaraig said in an interview on dzBB radio. Macaraig said their initial information showed the incident occurred at about 9 a.m. in Aya village in San Jose town. The report did not immediately give an account how the accident happened. Macaraig said authorities are still determining the number of injured as they are checking with hospitals near the area of the accident.
