Sari-sari stores, small businesses, retailers pump P1.3T into economy — PNoy

Microenterprises, small and medium business, and retailers constitute a significant economic force—contributing P1.3 trillion or 13 percent of the P9.7-trillion national economy, President Benigno Aquino III highlighted Wednesday.   At the a convention of sari-sari store proprietors organized by exchange listed firm Puregold Price Club , Aquino assured entrepreneurs of government’s striving to improve their plight by making the business permit and licensing process faster and graft-free.   “Hindi po matatawaran ang kontribusyon ng industriya ng retail sa pambansang ekonomiya…Tandaan po natin: marami sa sektor na ito ay nagmumula sa micro, small and medium enterprises, o sa mga maliliit na negosyong tulad ng mga sari-sari store,” the President said.   He also cited easier access to credit and training opportunities as among the means small business can be enabled to grow faster.   “Sa pamamagitan naman ng mga training, seminar, at workshop, maaaring mapayabong ang inyong kaalaman at kakayahan sa pagnenegosyo. Matuturuan kayong maging mas epektibo; na sa tamang pamamalakad ay mapapalago ninyo ang inyong mga tubo. Lagi naman pong may puwang upang higit na matuto at umasenso, ‘di po ba?” Aquino said.   “Ang pinakamahalaga po rito: ang hindi tayo makuntento. Lahat po ng mga pagsasanay na ito ay para maisagad ang mga oportunidad ninyong umunlad—ngayon at sa mga darating pang panahon,” he added.   Aquino explained how the Department of Trade and Industry and other agencies of government have shortened the steps needed to secure Social Security and Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG) numbers.   “Hindi po ba’t noon, kulang na lang ay tumambling ka patungo sa iba’t ibang opisina, sa iba’t ibang sulok ng ating mga bayan para lang makakuha ng mga papeles, tulad ng Pag-IBIG at SSS? Imbes na gobyerno po noong araw ang tutulong sa inyo, parang sila pa ang naghahatid ng perhuwisyo,” he said.   “Ngayon po, napabilis na natin ang mga proseso para sa business registration sa pamamagitan ng ating Philippine Business Registry at Business Name Registration System. Maging ang proseso ng pagkuha ng business permit at lisensya, patuloy din nating sinisikap na mapabilis at mapadali at mapadama sa taong bayan na ang gobyerno ay para sa kanila,” President Aquino elaborated. — ELR, GMA News
