V-League: San Sebastian aims for playoff berth against semis-bound Ateneo

San Sebastian College aims to secure at least a playoff berth when it takes on defending champion and early semifinalist Ateneo on Thursday in the Shakey's V-League Season 9 first conference at The Arena in San Juan City. Struggling teams Far Eastern University and Adamson also seek to secure a playoff spot when they take on winless teams University of St. La Salle-Bacolod and National U in separate matches. A San Sebastian (2-1) win will endanger the playoff bids of FEU and Adamson. The Lady Eagles are already assured of a Final Four berth with an immaculate 5-0 record but the Katipunan-based squad is determined to keep their momentum going in their bid to clinch another V-League crown. Lady Stags resident guest player Jeng Bualee and Ateneo counterpart Lithawat Kesinee are out to neutralize each other in a duel of Thai imports, with the locals hoping to do their share. Ateneo holds a slight edge against San Sebastian as Alyssa Valdez, Angeline Gervacio, Fille Cainglet, Gretchen Ho and Jem Ferrer are playing cohesively since the elimination round.
