The first day of Philippine Fashion Week at the SMX Convention Center on Tuesday was anything but traditional as boundaries were broken in The Ramp's “A Mixology of Style” fashion show.

Not only did it offer prêt-à-porter that's wearable and practical, it also deviated from conservative, safe, and traditional ready-to-wear pairings.

The collection conceptualized by creative director Mario Barrientos and designer Macel Pangan offered unorthodox, bizarre, and quirky ensembles in sheer fabric, powerful prints and neon colors. Highlights of the show included sheer skirted long dresses, drawstring track pants, patterned trousers, rompers with thigh grazing hemlines, and patented golf shoes.

According to Xandra Ramos-Padilla, The Ramp's general manager, the brand wanted to address the "stylish shoppers' desire for versatile and yet trendy pieces that they can wear to different events and even mix and match to their existing wardrobe."

For blogger Krista Garcia, the show was a rule breaker. "We see summer colors and summer prints on a holiday collection," she said. "I think it’s fun, and as expected, very wearable."

Several celebrities were also spotted during the event, among them Concert Queen Pops Fernandez and celebrity couple Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles.

The pair had nothing but good words for the show. "I love the collection. There's everything from summer to winter," Miles said. "It's colorful but still, there's black and white," she added.

For Montero, the highlights were the shoes and the trousers. "I loved the shoes. The patterned trousers were really nice," Montero added.

The fashion show was directed by Robby Carmona and styled by siblings Daryl and Andre Chang. –KG, GMA News
