President Benigno Aquino III may not be able to meet with Filipino-Mexican “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez when he visits the United States this June, Malacañang said Sunday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said an initial check of Aquino’s itinerary suggests he may not have the time to accommodate a meeting with Sanchez.

“We are looking at the working itinerary of the president, mukhang (it appears) tight. I’m not sure if it is possible to arrange a meeting that is so sudden, on both sides,” she said on government-run dzRB radio.

Aquino is due to have a meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House during his upcoming visit to the US and to the United Kingdom.

On the other hand, Valte noted the 16-year-old Sanchez, who many Filipinos dubbed “World Idol” after she finished second to Phillip Phillips, has a tight schedule as well.

“So I don’t know if it is possible to be able to work it in the schedule of the president and also of Ms. Sanchez. Busy ang bata at normally sa aking pagkakaalam ang finalist ng AI, they go on a concert tour," she said.

“I really can’t say if it is workable,” she added. — LBG, GMA News
