Palace reminder: Monday a regular work and school day
Monday will be a regular working and class day even if it is sandwiched between two nonworking days, Malacañang reminded workers and students on Sunday.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said there is no advice of any last-minute directive to declare Monday a non-working day.
“May pasok bukas (Monday)... kasi hanggang ngayon maraming nagtatanong. Ulitin ko lang, holiday Tuesday sa mismong Independence Day," she said on government-run dzRB radio.
At 8 a.m. Tuesday, she said President Benigno Aquino III will lead Independence Day celebrations at the Barasoain Church in Bulacan.
His activities there will include a wreath-laying and the delivery of his Independence Day message, she said.
Valte said Aquino will then return to Malacañang for the traditional vin d’honneur at 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, Valte said Aquino is likely to spend Monday signing paperwork at Malacañang, now that he has returned from a week-long trip where he visited the United Kingdom and the United States.
“Normally there is time allotted for the president’s working on state papers,” she said.
But she said they are not discounting the possibility some public engagements may be added to Aquino’s schedule on Monday. — LBG, GMA News
