Pacquiao unsurprised by WBO verdict, 'Alam na natin sa puso natin kung sino ang nanalo'
Manny Pacquiao declared that he wasn't surprised by the verdict of the World Boxing Organization's review, in which five international judges handed him a unanimous victory over his opponent Timothy Bradley, telling News to Go, "Hindi na ako nagulat dahil alam na natin sa puso natin kung sino ang nanalo."
Pacquiao, who is also the congressman for the Sarangani province, is currently there right now, assisting to his flood-struck constituents after Typhoon Butchoy.
Based on a review of the match tape, Pacquiao won by scores of 117-111, 117-111, 118-110, 116-112, and 115-113. In their original bout, last June 9 (June 10, PHL time), the panel of ringside judges handed Bradley a split-decision win of 115-113, 115-113, 113-115.
The WBO cannot make Bradley surrender the title however, with president Francisco Valcarcel saying that "the only thing we [the WBO] can do is authorize a rematch. We cannot go any further than that."
Pacquiao said he was willing to take that rematch though, "Para makita ng mga tao talaga [na nanalo ako]" but added that it was up to their promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, who handles both him and Bradley.
He had nothing negative to say about the two judges who scored in favor of Bradley though, CJ Ross and Duane Ford, saying that he would let the Nevada State Athletic Commission investigation unfold first, but added, "Sana hindi na maulit 'yon."
In a separate radio interview on dzBB, Pacquiao expressed his preference that the WBO welterweight title stay vacant however, saying he would not accept his belt back if ever Bradley would offer it to him.
"Kung ibigay naman nina [Bradley], hindi ko naman tatanggapin. Baka isipin ng tao inaagaw ko ang belt....Kung ibibigay ni Bradley, ibakante na lang ang belt, wala nang champion diyan, kasi parang inaagaw rin," the Filipino ring icon said.
For now though, the Pacman asked his fans and supporters to accept the WBO's decision and be thankful for it.
"Pasalamat tayo nagkaroon ng ganyang desisyon. Mahalaga ang dangal natin at totoong nangyari at lumabas din. Huwag sila mag-alala, makukuha rin natin 'yan," he said. - AMD, GMA News
