The parody account fooled many and the tweet in question quickly garnered more than a thousand retweets from shocked Boston fanatics.

In fact, so many people were taking it as actual news that the real Chris Broussard, ESPN sportswriter, had to send out a clarification on his own account, warning people of the impostor tweeter.
There's a Chris BROUSARD posting fake stuff....my name is spelled with two SS's not one....ignore it

Chris Brousard, the parody account, has in the past also tweeted out several fictitious trades, including a Ray Allen to New York Knicks deal, a swap that sends Andre Iguodala to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for the #8 pick, and a Pau Gasol for the #2 overall pick rumor involving the Lakers big man and the Charlotte Bobcats. This is the first tweet that really fooled a large number of people however, with previous "fakes" registering less than 50 retweets.
Ray Allen will meet with Knicks owner James Dolan in New York next week regarding a possible contract, per league source.
