PAGASA: Flash floods, landslides threaten Visayas, Mindanao
Flash floods and landslides threatened parts of the Visayas and Mindanao as a potential cyclone, an active low-pressure area (ALPA), moved closer to Mindanao before noon Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration also said the ALPA was estimated at 580 km east of Hinatuan City, Surigao Del Sur as of 8 a.m.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the ALPA will affect Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao, and advised residents in low-lying areas to be on alert against flash floods and landslides.
Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Connie Dadivas said the ALPA may become a cyclone in 24 to 48 hours.
If the ALPA becomes a cyclone while in Philippine territory, it will be codenamed "Enteng."
