Low pressure area drenches Luzon overnight, more rain seen in hours ahead
Light to moderately heavy rain fell overnight over Metro Manila, the Southern Tagalog provinces and northeastern Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (PAGASA) said through a series of messages via its official Twitter account.
GMA Network resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz said on GMA Network’s Unang Hirit morning program that more rain can be expected over Luzon the rest of Tuesday unfolds while a low pressure area moves across Southern Luzon.
PAGASA said the heaviest recorded downpour was observed at Sangley Point in Cavite where there was 56.8 millimeters of rainfall.
At the Port Area in Manila at 1:00 a.m. some 15.2 mm of rainfall was recorded.
Meanwhile, motorists were advised to avoid the stretch of Araneta Avenue in Quezon City and the intersection of Taft Avenue and Quirino Avenue in Manila.
In a phone interview on GMA Network’s Unang Hirit morning program Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Metrobase duty officer Jude Galang, said they received text reports from motorists and commuters that these areas are flooded.
