Flags in Manila schools, govt offices at half-mast for Dolphy
Philippine flags were flown at half-mast in schools and public offices in Manila in honor of the late Comedy King Dolphy or Rodolfo "Dolphy" Vera Quizon, who died Tuesday night at the Makati Medical Center.
Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim told reporters Wednesday – after meeting with Dolphy’s family at the Heritage Park in Taguig City – that he was a close friend of the late comedian.
Dolphy’s burial is tentatively scheduled for Sunday.
Several officials, including President Benigno Aquino III, have issued statements mourning Dolphy’s death.
Last month Manila honored Dolphy, who was born in the city’s Tondo district, with the “Diwa ng Lahi” award. — VS, GMA News
