The Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell is reporting that free agent forward Antawn Jamison will opt to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers instead of his hometown Charlotte Bobcats, citing an informed source. Jamison is currently in Europe on vacation, the Observer adds, but he is "expected to sign with the Lakers once he returns to the United States later this week." The Brooklyn Nets were also hoping to secure the 14-year veteran's services. Jamison's prior team was the Cleveland Cavaliers, but his contract with the squad expired this off-season, making him an unrestricted free agent. He missed just one game last season, averaging 17.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals. The 36-year-old product of the University of North Carolina would help bolster the bench scoring of the Lakers, and give new acquisition, two-time MVP Steve Nash, more weapons to pass to.  - AMD, GMA News
